2008 Patton Valley Pinot Noir
Tanzer: 90 points
The 2008 Patton Valley Vineyard Pinot Noir is all about intensity, concentration and structure. Its nose is a pantry of dark, exotic spices, black cherries, loamy earth and spring flowers. The wine quietly announces its entry with a sleek and highly refined texture that fails to hint at the bold concentration that follows. The mid-palate is a dense and complex array of dark cherry, plum, clove, anise and molasses. With near perfect balance of fruit, acid and tannin, the vintage will likely be regarded for its longevity; the result of the vintages slow ripening. Cellar with confidence for a decade or more.

2008 10 Acre Pinot Noir
Tanzer: 92 points
The 2008 Patton Valley Vineyard 10 Acre Pinot Noir has a nose of Bing cherry, spice, forest floor, chamomile tea, and a complex ‘wild’ character. The elegant entry calmly gives way to a broad, yet focused mid-palate that is deep with spices, earth, and mushroom flavors submerged beneath pure, bright, sweet red cherries. These flavors move across the palate unobstructed, carried by a brisk beam of red-fruited acidity that extends to the long, persistent finish. The tannins, at this youthful stage, coat the mouth like a fine coco powder and should continue to round out adding weight to the wine as it ages. 123 cases produced.

2008 West Block Pinot Noir
Tanzer: 92 points
The nose of the 2008 Patton Valley Vineyard West Block Pinot Noir is immediately expressive. Intense cinnamon aromas mix with those of fine leather and berries, which virtually leap from the glass. The wine enters the mouth with poise and grace, then almost immediately uses its complexity to bemuse. The vast volume of the wine makes its lightness and agility surprising. Black cherries shout over a background of complex flavors of spice, earth, and exotic wood. The lively tannins are carried on the shoulders of the racy acidity that dances in celebration across the mid-palate. Its structure claims it can age for 12 or more years, while its exuberant fruit encourages earlier drinking. 96 cases produced.

2009 Patton Valley Pinot Noir Rosé
The 2009 Rosé of Pinot Noir opens with aromas of strawberry, cotton candy and a hint of crushed stone. The wine enters the mouth smooth and polished, with a gentle richness that is soon truncated by a firm core of mouth-watering acidity. Flavors of berries and juicy rock candies suggest a fruity sweetness that soon gives way to a pure and refreshing, virtually endless finish.

2007 Patton Valley Pinot Noir
The 2007 Patton Valley Vineyard Pinot Noir exhibits a nose of smoke, bing
cherry pie, damp forest floor, clove and allspice. The wine enters the mouth
gently, round and smooth with bright red fruits. On the mid-palate it
expands with red and black cherries, mysterious and complex balsamic notes,
sweet vanilla and spices. The heart of the wine is a racy acidic core,
wrapped with rich cream, that accelerates across the palate. The wine
finishes with lingering firm, yet polished tannins, and flavors reminiscent
of baking chocolate and bramble. The wine's elegance, layered complexity,
and movement on the palate are indicative of the cool vintage and are
hallmarks of classic Oregon Pinot Noir. Approachable now, the aromatics and
layers of flavors should become more complex with cellaring for 7 years or
more.
